"We Gotta Right to Play the Blues" |
|
The 2005 season will find the Royal Airs holding fast to their drum corps style jazz and blues formula. Look for Big Blue to come off the traditional starting line playing Truman Crawford's Chicago Fanfare which will "swing" into John Philip Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever. The middle of the 2005 presentation will be comprised two concert style numbers, God Bless the Child and Tru's Blues. God Bless the Child is retained from the 2004 season. Tru's Blues is a medley of Birth of the Blues and I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues, which offer tribute to Truman Crawford and his style that made the Royal Airs prominent in the '60s. The Royal Airs will exit the field to the beautiful melody found in the theme song from the film "An Affair to Remember" called Our Love Affair. To top off the show, Big Blue will re-enter the field and attempt to push back the stands playing Alexander's Ragtime Band. 2005 Show Schedule Friday, June 17 - Oswego, IL Festival of BrassSunday, June 19 - Lisle, IL Sunday, June 26 - Des Plaines, IL Big Blue's Brass Review Saturday, July 2 - Michigan City, IN Pageant of Drums Saturday, July 9 - DeKalb, IL DCM Championships Saturday, July 16 - Hastings, MN Sunday, July 17 - St. Peter, MN Sunday, July 31 - Naperville, IL Cavalcade of Brass Sunday, September 5 - Scranton, PA DCA Alumni Spectacular 2005 Repertoire Chicago Fanfare Additional Songs Ave MariaHere's That Rainy Day
